Referral programme terms
Version 2026-06-03-b
1. What this is
If you introduce a farmer to us and that farmer’s land is successfully listed on the Platform, we pay you a flat R500 referral fee.
You don’t become an employee, contractor, agent, or representative of Routekeepers by taking part. You hold no equity and earn no ongoing revenue share.
2. Who can refer
Anyone of legal age in South Africa who can receive payment into a South African bank account. You don’t need to be a registered Routekeepers user. You can refer a farmer you know personally; you can’t cold-canvas farmers on our behalf or represent yourself as acting for Routekeepers.
You may not refer yourself (a farm you own or co-own), an immediate family member where you have a direct financial interest in the farm, or anyone we’re already in conversation with (we’ll tell you on submission if so).
3. The fee
R500 per farm successfully listed, in ZAR, paid by EFT to a South African bank account in your name within 30 days of the farm’s listing going live (visible publicly on routekeepers.co.za).
The fee is your taxable income and you’re responsible for declaring it; we issue an IT3(b) at year-end if cumulative fees paid to you exceed the SARS threshold.
We may adjust the fee for a specific referral by mutual agreement (for example, a particularly hard-to-reach farm); any adjustment is recorded on the referral at submission time.
4. The lifecycle of a referral
Introduced: you’ve submitted the introduction and we’ll reach out to the farmer. Listed: the farm has gone live and the fee is queued for payout. Paid: we’ve paid you. Declined: the introduction didn’t result in a fee — the farm was already in our pipeline, the farmer chose not to list, or the listing fell through during onboarding. We tell you why.
5. Who gets credited
If two people claim to have introduced the same farmer, the introduction recorded first in our system is the one credited, and we are the authoritative source of that timestamp. If you believe an earlier introduction of yours wasn’t recorded, raise it at listing@routekeepers.co.za and we’ll investigate.
6. Your bank details
We don’t ask for your bank details up front. When the farm goes live and the fee is due, we request them securely and use them only to pay you.
If you choose not to provide them, the fee stays accrued for 12 months from the listing going live; after that, without a valid payment instruction, it lapses.
7. What we promise — and don’t
We’ll respond to your submission within 5 working days, keep you informed at each state change, pay every owed fee within 30 days of the trigger, and not share your contact details with the referred farmer without your consent.
We don’t promise that the farmer will agree to list, that we’ll treat your introduction more favourably than any other channel, or that you get exclusivity over any area. We approach every farm on its merits.
8. No spam
You may not submit introductions for farmers you haven’t actually spoken to or whose details you have no legitimate basis to share, submit one without telling the farmer you’re introducing them to us, or use Routekeepers branding or claim a relationship with us in cold outreach.
If you breach this, we may decline all your referrals and bar you from future submissions. Egregious breaches — impersonating Routekeepers staff, falsified introductions — may result in legal action.
9. Your data
When you submit an introduction we hold your contact details (to pay and update you) and the farmer’s contact details (to approach them), processed under our Privacy Policy. You can ask us to delete your referrer record at any time by emailing listing@routekeepers.co.za; deletion doesn’t reverse fees already paid.
10. Ending the programme & governing law
We may end the programme at any time. Referrals submitted before the end date are still paid if the farm goes live within 12 months; introductions still pending at the end date are honoured for 6 months thereafter, then lapse.
This agreement is governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. By submitting an introduction through any channel, you agree to these terms.
