Adamel Wild Camp

Adamel Wild Camp sits in the Garden Route hinterland, a short hop from Riversdale, with the Langeberg passes almost on the doorstep. The land has a secluded, seldom-ridden quality to it — wide open with long mountain views — and the riding backs that up. One route is mapped on the farm: the Wildly Scenic Hill-Climb Loop, a climb-and-view loop that rewards doing more than once. Alongside it, a complementary approach route — the Heidelberg Plantation Run — links in from off the property for anyone who wants more gravel before they reach the gate. Follow the blue arrows, close the gates behind you, and the property feels like it belongs to you alone. After the ride, you pitch your own tent on open land and that's the point. Several wild camping spots are spread across the property, some with ablution facilities, and the Berghuisie provides an additional base. Cell coverage is good. Riversdale is ten minutes away for fuel, food and ATMs. Garcia's Pass is a short ride north if you want more gravel before the day's done, and the R62 corridor — Tradouw, Barrydale, Seweweekspoort — is all within striking distance for a big day out.
